Telegram username auctionsseven days
Fragment auctions do not run on a published schedule. The clock is started by the first bidder, and everything after that is settled on the blockchain.
The seven day clock
A listed collectible can sit indefinitely with no auction running. The moment somebody places the first bid, a seven day auction opens and runs to the end.
This is the detail most people get wrong. Bidding early does not just put you in the running, it starts the countdown that everybody else now has seven days to act within.
Minimum bids and instant buyouts
The seller sets a minimum bid, and no bid below it is accepted. The seller can also set an optional maximum price, which ends the auction immediately if a buyer pays it.
If a handle matters to you and there is a buyout price on it, the buyout removes seven days of competition. Whether that is worth the premium depends on how badly you want it.
Settlement is on chain, and order matters
Bids are blockchain transactions, so the one that lands first is the one that counts. A transaction that reaches the chain after the auction has closed loses, and the funds are refunded.
In practice this means network timing is part of the auction. A bid sent in the last seconds is not guaranteed to be the bid that arrives last.
Questions people ask
- Does the auction extend if I bid at the end?
- No. The seven day window is fixed from the first bid, and a late transaction can simply miss it.
- Can a seller cancel an auction?
- An auction that has started runs its course. The controllable levers are the minimum bid and the optional buyout price, both set before it begins.
- Do I get my money back if I lose?
- Yes. Losing bids and transactions that arrive too late are refunded.
- Can someone bid for me?
- Yes. We bid on behalf of clients who would rather not appear in a public auction.
